Edit: I've tested & it works just fine! However, before changing name, CP will request you to remove all friends from your friend list. Yay! I couldn't use that name before because it says I was using a fool language when it wasn't the case!

I think the event he was talking about was the christmas event as he gave 20 dcp free meaning you can change your name using that since logically;
